OCR: AM/FM *** EXTENDED PARTY-MUSIC *** ol I --| I lo lo ol The fact is, that a huge percentage of all "8-bit freaks" in the world are also active on the "16-bit front". (What I am trying to say here, is that a lot of AMIGA-trackers are also using midi-equipment and so on...) Well... the thing is, that most of the midi-music turns out to be a lot better than the Amiga-modules. Not strange ofcourse. Afterall, the midi has a few more channels to "brag" with than the noise-/protracker. (12 to be exact). The reason why I write this article is that I want the worlds party- organizers to open their eyes for the midi-music ON THE PARTIES. What I pesonally mean would be a smart idea, is to arrange >> 2 << separate music competitions. ONE for Amiga-modules, and ONE for Midi-songs! Since the presets on all the different synthesizers never will be the same from unit to unit, the contributions must be handed over to the jury on TAPE! The rest of the competition should go on like all other compos; judged by either a jury or the people present at the party. This will make it a bit more interessting for each individual interessed in midi. It would be great to compete with TWO different types of music on the same party, wouldn't it? And to get it "squeezed off" on an 40KW amp.(!!??.. weeell!....) If anyone liked this idea, I hope you are the right person(s) to take the first step, and get the whole thing going. However.. This will definitely be tried out by DEADLINE on their WORLD-party 1992! It would be GREAT to see some progress around here.. (hi, CRB!) Since AM/FM is a worldwide music magazine, I bet there are a lot of readers who have comments to this article, and we would be more than glad to to get YOUR comment on this one. First of all in favour for Deadline, so they can get an impression of the interest around and then can decide how much money they're going to spend on the comp. (prizes etc.) But also if you've written something sensible, your comment for-/or against might be published in the next issue of AM/FM. This article applies first of all to the "party-dudes" out there, but when it comes to MIDI, I don't think that the composers has to be present at the party. It will do if the organizers publish an adress to send the midi-contributions to IN TIME! Now.. enough crazy ideas from me for a while.. Looking forward to hear YOUR midi-song on the next BIG EVENT for us Amiga AM/FM
